72-Hour Tennis Marathon Challenge

Hosted by ThanksUSA and Jack Schore Tennis

Bonnie Vona of the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section—with the assistance of world-renowned expert in sport science and human performance Dr. Mark Kovacs—will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Marathon Playing Tennis (singles). Bonnie will begin the morning of Friday, July 1 and will conclude her feat on the morning of July 4 to officially kick off the events of the day. Each hour, new opponents will join Bonnie on the court and will include corporate and individual donors or military members.

World’s Largest Tennis Lesson

Everyone in attendence will have the opportunity to participate in another Guinness World Record for the Largest Tennis Lesson. Racquets will be provided for players ranging from beginner to professional to experience a group lesson like no other.

Activities for All Ages

Other activities will include a serving machine contest, military appreciation, tennis demonstrations, raffles and giveaways, and finally the Germantown Glory Fireworks.

Tennis Thanks the Troops

All funds raised will benefit the ThanksUSA Scholarship Program. Sponsor benefits will include promotional opportunities and visibility to 30,000 attendees, as well as participation in the Guinness World Record events taking place. The events will be promoted throughout the area in print and social media platforms and televised through TV morning shows and live-streaming cameras.

Wounded Warrior Clinic

An adaptive clinic designed for wounded service members will also take place in June to honor additional military families through the sport of tennis. This clinic will be followed by a sponsor reception.
